Smart Glass

Glass that does something

A building's glazing is its largest surface and usually its most passive one. These technologies give it three jobs: show content while staying transparent, turn opaque on command, and hold heat in. Most of them go onto the glass you already have.

OVERVIEW

Three jobs for a surface that currently does none

Films are applied to the inner face of glazing that is already installed: no masonry work, no window replacement, and removal at end of life leaves the substrate intact. Technical glass instead replaces the pane or enters at design stage, and is the only option when the requirement is structural or thermal beyond what a film can carry.

Which of the two routes actually holds on a given building is decided at survey — glass type, frame, solar exposure, viewing distance and available power all move the answer. We quote after the survey, not before.

We are not a materials reseller: the same team handles design, supply, site preparation, fitting and commissioning, so there is one contractor answering for the result rather than three pointing at each other.

HOW WE WORK
01

Survey

Surface measurement, glass and frame type, solar exposure, available power points, site access. Without this, any number would be invented.

02

Design and simulation

Family and pixel pitch selection, resolution and brightness computed for the real viewing distance, and a simulation of the result on your own glazing.

03

Quotation

Itemised by material, fitting, shipping and site set-up, so it is clear what each line pays for. Order confirmed against a deposit.

04

Production and shipping

Made to measure and shipped insured. Roughly 2.5 months from order confirmation, depending on format and configuration.

05

Site work and fitting

Surface protection, fitting by specialised labour, cabling, reinstatement and final clean-down. Shopfronts are normally worked outside trading hours.

06

Commissioning

Brightness and colour calibration, content test, training on the management system and handover of documentation.

PRODUCT FAMILIES

Transparent LED film

An RGB LED mesh embedded in a thin polymer film with the circuit made optically invisible. Bonded to the inner face of the glass: a window when off, a display readable in full sun when on.

Media glass

The display is born inside the pane, with driver chips, control electronics and heat dissipation integrated at manufacture. For facades designed from scratch.

Hanging and mesh LED film

Lightweight LED sheets hung in front of a facade or in an atrium void, and flexible mesh under 3 mm for curved or irregular surfaces. Both dismount at the end of a campaign.

Switchable film and glass

Liquid crystals dispersed in a polymer: milky with no voltage, clear under voltage, switching in milliseconds. Available as an applied film or laminated into safety glass.

Switchable window units

Doors and windows delivered with the active glass already integrated — no site integration, no visible cabling, and laminated safety glass throughout.

Vacuum and holographic glass

Two panes separated by a hard vacuum for triple-glazing performance at a fraction of the thickness, and a 0.2 mm reflective nano-coating that suspends a projected image in mid-air.

WHERE IT IS USED
RETAIL

Shopfronts and flagship stores

A window that communicates by day and is still a window at night, without giving up daylight inside the shop.

  • Transparent LED film
  • Holographic film
  • Content management included
  • Fitted outside trading hours
WORKPLACE

Offices, hotels and clinics

Privacy on command instead of blinds or permanently frosted glass, on partitions that stay clear the rest of the time.

  • Switchable film or glass
  • Switchable window units
  • Switch, sensor or building automation
  • Rear-projection surface
CULTURE

Museums and exhibition design

Captions and imagery that sit in front of the exhibit without covering it, inside cases that keep their sightlines.

  • Holographic film
  • Transparent LED film
  • 0.2 mm inside a display case
  • No power at the glass
ARCHITECTURE

Facades and landmarks

Buildings that become a night-time reference point with nothing bolted to the envelope.

  • Media glass
  • Mesh LED film
  • Hanging LED film
  • Seasonal or permanent
WHY US
Local supplier Based in Genoa: a direct contact, survey and commissioning in person, no travel charges.
One contractor Design, supply, site work and fitting from the same team. One party answers for the result.
Non-invasive Films bond to existing glazing. No masonry, no window replacement, reversible removal.
Quoted after survey Four separate lines — material, fitting, shipping, site set-up — priced once the surfaces are measured.
Serviceable Film is cut and spliced to size, and a failed module is replaced without stripping the rest.
Declared data Published figures are the manufacturers' standard-configuration values, confirmed at design stage.
