How it works

Neska works inside your documents, not next to them.

One runtime to write, calculate, present and inspect. Neska moves between modules without you exporting, pasting or starting over.

Edict Write · .docx .odt .pdf

From first draft to .docx, without losing a hairline.

Real A4 pages, multi-level lists, footnotes, tracked changes and anchored comments. What you save is a valid ECMA-376 .docx, not an approximation.

  • Tracked changes and comments in the format you already know
  • Images by drag and drop or Ctrl+V
  • Export to .docx, .odt and .pdf

The modules

Four modules and an assistant. All free.

Neska · Runtime

The assistant that lives inside Edict.

It drafts clauses in Write, builds models in Sheet, lays out slides in Deck and certifies the package in Inspect, in a single turn.

Edict Write

Write properly.

Paginated A4 canvas, tracked changes, comments and footnotes.

Edict Sheet

Make numbers talk.

100,000 rows at 60 fps and cross-sheet formulas.

Edict Deck

Present with no excuses.

16:9 stage, native charts, pitch coach.

Edict Inspect

Every package, opened.

OPC tree, XML diff and ISO/IEC 29500 audit.

Data Room Vault

Seal your documents.

A 256-bit Merkle root signed with Ed25519: whoever receives the package can check it did not change.

MCP server

Give Edict to your agents.

Ten tools to read, write and convert documents without opening the interface.

edict-server.exe --mcp

What we promise

Free does not mean half-finished.

  • Your files stay yours

Edict saves into your operating system data folder and its local server only answers requests from your own machine. No fonts or scripts from a CDN.

  • Open formats, not a dialect

Read and write OOXML (ISO/IEC 29500) and OpenDocument (ISO/IEC 26300). If a file is not conformant, Inspect tells you which part and why.

  • Agents welcome

Start the engine without the interface and plug it into your IDE or your agent: ten tools over the Model Context Protocol.

  • Neska asks first

It can move between modules in a single turn. In guarded mode, every change waits for your ticket.

Download Edict. We will never send you a bill.

Everything you need to write, calculate and present, with Neska already inside.

Frequently asked

What people ask the most.

Is Edict really free?

Yes. All of Edict, every module, forever: no subscription, no paid plan, no trial that expires and no feature kept back for people who pay.

Why give it away?

Because writing a letter, building a spreadsheet or preparing a presentation should not need a subscription. Edict is made by Altovar and stays free.

Can I open the .docx, .xlsx and .pptx files people send me?

Yes. Edict works directly on .docx, .xlsx and .pptx and saves them in the same formats, preserving the parts you do not touch. It also handles OpenDocument (.odt, .ods, .odp).

Which formats can I export?

From Write: .docx, .odt and .pdf. From Sheet: .xlsx, .ods, .csv and .pdf. From Deck: .pptx, .odp, .pdf, and single slides as .svg and .png.

Where do my documents go?

Into Edict’s data folder on your computer, inside your user profile. The local server only answers trusted origins on your machine and checks every file name.

Does Edict work offline?

The desktop app does: it depends on no CDN and no external fonts. A standalone installer for isolated networks also exists.

What is the Ed25519 signature for?

The Data Room Vault computes a 256-bit Merkle root over the package files and signs it with a local key. Whoever receives the package can verify it and notice any change.

What is the Edict MCP server?

It is the Edict engine exposed over the Model Context Protocol: ten tools to inspect, write, calculate, export to PDF and convert between formats, usable from an agent or an IDE without the interface.
